How about 8 semesters enrolled, 8 semesters on the Dean's List? Or 7 of 8 semesters on the President's List (and a perfect GPA)? Consider that Matthew made the National Dean's List, comprised of the top 1% of all U.S. college students. Matthew has also received an $8,000 FSU Academic Scholarship Honor Society award and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, having been ranked in the top 10% in his respective college. He began earning distinctions in his freshman year when Phi Eta Sigma, a national honors society that recognizes first-year students who have earned a superior GPA, selected him for membership. The American Legion has recognized his academic achievement and leadership qualities through its Award for Scholastic Excellence. Academic rigor has not kept Matthew from supporting his community. He serves as an elder at his church, and has volunteered to feed the homeless and participate in after-school activities for teenagers. During his tenure at FSU, Matthew has maintained his active duty status in the United States Navy and is eager to honor his duty, returning to service after graduation.
