Dr. Sam H. Frank (B.A., M.A. '56) has been appointed dean of the College of Professional Studies for The City College of The City University of New York.

1956

Ellen Snow Frank (B.M.E., M.M. '57) is administrative assistant to the vice president for marketing of the Manhattan Life Insurance Company in New York City.

1957

William W. Dawson (M.S., Ph.D. '61), University of Florida eye researcher, is vice president of the Americas for the International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision. Dawson, a professor of ophthalmology and affiliate professor of neuroscience and physiology in UF's College of Medicine, was elected at the society's summer meeting in Prague, Czech Republic.

1961

Edwin B. Browning (B.S.) is a judge in the state appeals court. Browning was a partner in the law firm of Davis, Browning and Schnitker.

1962

Jan Warren Duggar (B.S., M.A. '65, Ph.D. '67) has been named dean of Seattle University's Albers School of Business and Economics.

1966

Dr. Thomas P. Holland (M.S.W.) is professor and director of the Center of Social Services Research and Development in the School of Social Work at the University of Georgia. He has been named senior research associate for the Zaccheus Project, which explores emerging patterns of leadership, issues and challenges within the Episcopal Church.

John Andrew Smith (B.S.) is stepping down after 18 years as senior staff director of the Florida Senate's budget-writing committee. He will split his time between lobbying for the Tallahassee law firm Huey Guilday & Tucker and working for FSU.

1969

Capt. (Ret). Lathan A. Varnado (B.A.) following a military career of more than 20 years, retired in 1998 from another 20-years-plus career, as the principal for community education, First Coast High School,Jacksonville. Varnado is now owner of the Jewel V. Ranch, Bowie, Ariz.

1972

Cdr. William D. Sullivan (B.S.) is on a six-month deployment to the western Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and Arabian Gulf as commanding officer aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Cowpens.

1973

Steven E. Lindberg (M.S., Ph.D. '79) is a researcher in the Environmental Sciences Division of the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He has been invited to participate in the 1998 Science Experts Workshop on Mercury in North America in Nevada.

1974

Thomas E. Baker (B.S.) has joined the faculty of Drake Law School in Des Moines, Iowa, as a professor of law in the James Madison Chair of Constitutional Law and director of the Constitutional Law Resource Center.

1975

Robert Gingras (M.A., Ph.D. '80) is a Bainbridge College (Ga.) professor of English and journalism. Gingras and Darrell Fike (Ph.D. '96), a Bainbridge instructor of English and humanities, have co-written and published an article entitled "Collaborative Learning and Computers" in the Spring 1998 issue of Reaching Through Teaching, a publication of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Kennesaw State University.

1976

Dallas D. Raines (B.S. '76) has joined the geography department at California State Northridge and is teaching a class on weather.

1977

Victor Rivers a.k.a. Vic Rivas (B.S.) is an actor who has a part in the movie "Zorro." He plays Zorro's brother, Wakene.

1985

Barbara J. Graham (B.S.) is the assistant director of creative services at WCVB-TV Channel 5 in Boston, Mass. She has received an Emmy for her new promotional announcement presented by the Boston/New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Lynn S. Spinella (B.S.) has been elected vice president of the city commission of Lighthouse Point City, Fla. She has also been appointed associate vice president, investments, of JW Genesis Securities in Lighthouse Point.

1986

Robert P. Callahan (B.S.) joined the accounting firm of Cooper Lybrand in Tokyo. He has lived in Japan for more than eight years.

Steven Kirk Coker (B.S.) was promoted to the rank of major in the Marine Corps. He has been in the Marines for ten years and is stationed in Chattanooga, Tenn.

R. Scott Newth (B.S., M.B.A. '87) was promoted to chief executive officer of dotOne Corporation in Salt Lake City, Utah.

1987

William R. Stutts (M.B.A.) is a vice president of First American Bank in Memphis, Tenn.

1990

John H. Chason III (B.S.) has been elected to the board of directors at Wealth Management Corporation, a registered investment advisory firm in Tallahassee.

David L. Fitzgerald (B.S.) has been promoted to the position of senior business analyst/project manager at Zeneca Pharmaceuticals in Wilmington, Del.

1991

Natalie D. Preston (B.S., M.P.A. '93) is the director of alumni and parent relations at the University of Tampa.

1993

Patrick A. Henning (B.S.) has received a Field Partnership Award given by Target Stores to recognize the individual in the region who builds great working relationships between operations and headquarters. Patrick is also being promoted to the first SuperTarget store in Atlanta.

1994

Crystal E. Earney (A.A.) was promoted to Navy petty officer 3rd Class while serving with Patrol Squadron Eight, Naval Air Station, Brunswick, Maine.

Lt. j.g. Vera C. Schick (B.S.N.) completed a multinational exercise in the Mediterranean and Baltic Sea aboard the hospital ship USNS Comfort, home ported in Baltimore.

1996

Todd M. Gingerich (B.S.) has received a master of science degree in food science and technology from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.

1997

Paul F. Adams (B.A.) is working as a consultant for an international information technology firm called Romac International.

1998

Melinda Banks (B.A.) is the chief meteorologist for the television station WMDT-TV, Delmarva 47 in Salisbury, Md.
