Boyt "Lee" Elam (B.S.) won the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce's 1998 Key Citizen Award for outstanding community service from being president of the American Cancer Society to providing free legal services to migrant farm workers.

Joseph D. Smith, Jr. (B.A.) received the 1998 Robert L. Morlan Outstanding Faculty Secretary Award from Omicron Delta Kappa National Convention.

C. Paul Robinson (Ph.D.) is president of Sandia Corporation and Laboratory and a member of the Strategic Advisory Group for the Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Strategic Command, where he is chairman of the Policy Group, which is helping to develop new nuclear weapons policy for the post Cold War period.
