1961Boyt "Lee" Elam (B.S.) won the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce's 1998 Key Citizen Award for outstanding community service from being president of the American Cancer Society to providing free legal services to migrant farm workers. 1962Donald J. Donatelli (B.S.) is in the Minor League Professional Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Joseph D. Smith, Jr. (B.A.) received the 1998 Robert L. Morlan Outstanding Faculty Secretary Award from Omicron Delta Kappa National Convention. 1967C. Paul Robinson (Ph.D.) is president of Sandia Corporation and Laboratory and a member of the Strategic Advisory Group for the Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Strategic Command, where he is chairman of the Policy Group, which is helping to develop new nuclear weapons policy for the post Cold War period. 1969Brig. Gen. Robert L. Floyd II (B.A.) is commander of the U.S. Army Soldier Systems or SSCOM. 1975Michael J. Grimes (B.S.) is a partner in the Minneapolis office of the Briggs and Morgan law firm. 1978Cynthia F. Bowling (B.S.) was project manager for the Clearwater/Nagano Hospitality and Exhibition Center in Nagano, Japan. Edward L. Proctor III (B.S.) is among the 150 recipients of the 1997 Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award. 1979Steven A. Geller (B.A. '79, J.D. '82) was sworn into the Florida Senate to replace Senator Ken Jenne, another FSU alumnus, who resigned to become the Broward County Sheriff. 1983Dr. Shari R. Thomas (B.A.) was named the Occupational and Environmental Health Directorate Civilian of the Quarter for the Senior Scientist and Engineer category. 1984Jeffrey D. Kottkamp (B.S.) is president of the Lee County, Florida, Bar Association. 1985Johnny "Ballpark" Franks (B.S.) has joined Gish, Sherwood & Friends as a senior account executive in Nashville, Tenn. 1986Gary M. Farmer Jr. (B.A.) has joined as a partner the law firm of Gillespie, Goldman, Kronengold & Farmer in Jupiter, Fla. Mary Wheeling White (B.A.) has written Fighting the Current: The Life and Work of Evelyn Scott, published by Louisiana State University Press. 1987David R. Turner (B.S.) has joined Expert Software Inc. as vice president of development. 1988Roy A. Dawes (M.S. '88, Ph.D. '91) was granted tenure at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. 1989Albert L. Kelley (J.D.) will teach at the Key West branch of St. Leo College and continue his law practice in Key West. 1990Joseph Bradley (B.S.) is an assistant vice president of development for the Alltel Corporation in Jacksonville and husband of April Griffin Bradley (B.S. '89, M.S.W. '92), a pediatric oncology social worker. Tracy L. Burkett (B.S.) received a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of South Carolina. William H. Stander (B.S.) has joined the Boyd Law Firm P.A. in Tallahassee. 1991Capt. Paul S. Rollin (B.S.) participated in a training exercise in Iwakuni, Japan, while serving with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). 1993Lt. John R. Bixby (B.S.) reported for duty with Strike Fighter Squadron 27, Naval Air Station, Lemoore, Calif. 1994John M. Hennesey (B.S.) earned a master's degree in computer information systems from the University of Denver.
