1953

Madge Alexander Vining (B.S.) has retired after 33 years in the elementary classroom. She and her husband became grandparents of triplets, two boys and one girl.

1964

William Andrew "Andy" Haggard (B.A.) has been elected to the FSU Foundation Board of Trustees. He is also a partner at the Coral Gables consumer law firm Haggard, Parks & Stone.

1965

Irv Broughton (B.A. '65, M.A. '67) published "Hangar Talk," a collection of 37 interviews with the fliers from World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm. His ninth book, it is being distributed by University of Washington Press.

1966

Judge John Lenderman (B.A.) received the 1998 Annual Judicial Appreciation Award from the St. Petersburg Bar Association for commitment to the quality of justice.

Michael P. Uhrich (B.S.) received a 25-year-veteran award given by the Shore Chapter of the State (New Jersey) High School Track & Field Officials.

Dr. W.S. "Bud" Smith II (B.S.) is associate vice president for academic affairs and dean of enrollment management at Emporia State University in Kansas.

1968

Greg A. Breitenbeck (B.A. '68) is director of marketing for the Aviation Sales Company of Miami.

1969

W. Wayne Godwin (B.A.) was elected to the position of vice chair of the board of trustees for the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). He is also president and general manager of channel 48, WCET, in Cincinnati.

1970

Annette Gibbs (Ph.D.), an education professor at the University of Virginia., has received an award for leadership from a national honor society chapter at that university.

Marjorie J. Meyer (B.A.) has won the Community Associations Institute's 1997-1998 award of excellence in government and public affairs. She is also president of Prime Site Inc., an accredited management company.

1971

Richard S. Darlow (B.S.) has opened a Mail Boxes Etc. in Jacksonville.

1972

David Starr (B.S.) is joining Knight Ridder as vice president and chief information officer.

1975

Michael G. Berenbaum (Ph.D.) edited Anatomy of the Auschwitz Death Camp published by Indiana University Press. He is president and chief executive officer of the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation and former director of the research institute of the United States Holocaust memorial museum.

1976

James "Jim" Nosari (M.S.P.) is a partner in Moses Nosari Tucker Real Estate Inc. in Little Rock, Ark.

1979

F. Daniel Althoff (B.A. '79, M.A. '85) is assistant professor of Spanish at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla.

1982

Jimmy M. Woodward (B.S.) has been elected to the board of directors of Keebler Foods Company. He is treasurer and chief accounting officer of Flowers Industries Inc. in Thomasville, Ga.

1983

Norma G. Rueda (M.S. '83, Ph.D. '87) is a Fulbright scholar for the 1998-99 academic year. She will lecture and conduct research on optimization at the Universidad Nacional del Sur in Argentina. She is an associate professor in mathematics and computer science at Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass.

1989

Stefani Robinson Sullivan (B.A.) was honored recently as one of "Ten Teachers (who)... make a Difference." She teaches seventh grade English at West Bainbridge Middle School in Bainbridge, Ga. The award is sponsored by WALB-TV, Burger King, and Security Bank of Albany, Ga.

1995

Richard F. Reed (M.M.) reported for duty with the Navy Band in Washington D.C.

1996

Kenneth R. Franklin (B.S.) graduated from the Basic Enlisted Submarine Course at the Naval Submarine School in Groton, Conn.

Lisa Lukawski (B.S.) is a merchandise coordinator for Calvin Klein in Atlanta.

Thomas D. McKay (B.S.) graduated from the Basic Enlisted Submarine Course at the Naval Submarine School in Groton, Conn.

1997

Anthony G. Zimmerman (A.A.) completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
