Net surfer finds FSU

I am an avid FSU fan; my mother, Margaret Katherine Jones, attended FSU (of course, quite a few years ago). I have her beenie cap from her sorority and pin. That is just way too cool. However, I just wanted to say I think it is fantastic that you are on the net. While net surfing, I found FSU. This has made my day. Now I can read all about what is going on on campus and sports. I just wish to thank you for providing this to all 'Noles who find it hard to get more active with the school. Once again, thank you.

FSU Medical School?

Do you have any information regarding future plans for the development of a medical school at FSU? I have heard rumors that it has been considered in the past. I believe that building a medical school at FSU would DRASTICALLY improve the university's overall academic reputation. My "friends" at UF laugh at the fact that they have a medical school, and we only have a circus. The projections for population growth in Tallahassee also seem to support the need for a new medical center.
Any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Editor's Note: Florida State has a first year of medical school, PIMS (Program in Medical Sciences). Students who complete PIMS transfer to the University of Florida Medical School as second-year medical students. Some 600 physicians in private practice or residency started medical school at FSU. There has been some discussion of adding a second year to the FSU program.

FSU Times is corrected

In reference to Volume 1, No. 6 issue, CPE has a history of class struggles. "Four Kent State University students die." That is not correct. Four persons did die in the Kent State shooting, but they were not Kent State students. They were protestors who came to the campus. They had no business being on the campus.

Grad goes to Peru

My name is Ross Basford, RN BSN. I am a 1992 grad of FSU's School of Nursing. I am a nurse manager of the OR and part-time nursing instructor at FSU School of Nursing.
I was reading Florida State Times November/December issue and noticed the article about Morgan Smith. I have been interested in an Amazon expedition for some years. I have also spent time in the jungles of Asia when I was in the Navy. I read the story and made some phone calls, then applied for my passport during the government shutdown! Before I knew it, I was there with Morgan in the Bora Village.
Morgan and I talked while we were in Peru and discussed the idea of starting a rainforest awareness group at FSU or Tallahassee area. This area needs help before it is lost forever. I have enclosed a photo of me and a Bora tribe member.
