Dr. Miles is an Associate Professor and Ph.D. Program Director for the department. Dr. Miles' research interests include links between the built and social environments, public health, gender, work and demographic outcomes, aging and health. She has served abroad in the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan and Egypt with various international agencies. Her teaching interests are in the areas of research methods, population health and development, and gender and development. Dr. Miles earned her B.A. in the History of Science from Harvard University (1977), M.R.P. in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University (1983), and her Ph.D. in Development Sociology from Cornell University (1988).
