Dr. Doan is an Associate Professor and the Undergraduate Program Director for her department. Her primary interests are in the area of planning for less developed areas in both rural areas of the U.S. and overseas, particularly in Jordan, Egypt, Togo, Niger, and Botswana. Her research interests include appropriate strategies for regional development, spatial development policy, market town development, and building capacity for local institutional development. The courses she has taught include Growth and Development of Cities, Quantitative Methods, Economic Forecasting, Introduction to Development Planning, Project Planning in Developing Areas, Strategies for Urban & Regional Development in Less Developed Areas, Infrastructure & Housing Issues in Developing Countries, Third World Urbanization, and Advanced Urban and Regional Theory, and Introduction to World Cities. Dr. Doan earned her B.A. in Philosophy from Haverford College (1977), and her M.R.P. and Ph.D. from the Department of City and Regional Planning at Cornell University (1984/1988).
