Dr. Crow became Professor and Department Chair in the department in 2006. Prior to his appointment, he was a faculty member and department chair at the University of Utah and has held faculty appointments at Bank Street College in New York City and Louisiana State University, as well as a visiting professorship at the University of Reading in England. He received his Ph.D. degree in educational administration from the University of Chicago and has a M.S. in educational supervision and administration from Bank Street College of Education (NYC). His research interests include work socialization of school site leaders, school leadership and school reform. Dr. Crow is currently conducting comparative research in England and the U.S. on the socialization of school leaders in reform contexts. He has also conducted research and presented workshops on principal mentoring. His most recent book is Being and Becoming a Principal (with Matthews, Allyn and Bacon), which identifies multiple role conceptions of principals and assistant principals.
