Joseph is originally from Portales, New Mexico. With an M.A. in theology and another in philosophy, he has the dubious distinction of being Joseph Long, M.A., M.A. or, for short, Joe MAMA. Recently become ABD, his main interests are metaethics (esp. non-naturalism, intuitionism, and Moore's Open Question Argument), philosophy of science (esp. natural kinds, multiple realization, and reductionism), and metaphysics (esp. causation and material constitution). When he is not doing philosophy, he enjoys racquetball, jazz and classical music (preferably the Romantic composers), literature, good beer, and good cigars.
