Welcome to the French Division of the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at Florida State University. We offer a comprehensive undergraduate language program, together with studies in French and Francophone literature, culture and civilization. At the graduate level, we offer MA and PhD degree programs spanning many aspects of French and Francophone studies including literature, culture, contemporary society, linguistics and second language acquisition. Thanks to the generosity of Mrs. Ada Belle Winthrop-King, the Division offers an exciting range of scholarships and other awards to graduates and undergraduates as well as to high school teachers and students of French.  The Winthrop-King Institute for Contemporary French and Francophone Studies enriches our programs with its internationally renowned conferences, seminars and public lectures featuring leading scholars, writers and other figures from France and the wider French-speaking world.
