FELLOWSHIPS AVAILABLE TO COE GRADUATE STUDENTS 2001-2002


UNIVERSITY FELLOWSHIP
Application Date: February 1, 2001

The University Fellowship Competition is a highly competitive award of $15,000 covering two semesters (fall and spring). Recipients also receive 12 hours of matriculation and, if needed. 12 hours of out-of-state tuition waivers per semester. The competition has four groups, general and minority, and new and continuing within each of these groups. Students are limited to three awards each. The suggested minimum criteria are, 3.5 GPA and a 1250 GRE. Programs must rank applicants in each group and may only submit folders ranked among the top four in each group.

Required Documents:
Application form, transcript(s.) From each institution attended, GRE test scores, TOEFL score (for international students), statement of goals/purpose (250 words or less), and three letters of recommendation written by the persons indicated on the application (must be dated within the past year and written by faculty members with personal knowledge of the applicant's academic performance).

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION TEACHING FELLOWSHIP
Application Date: February 15, 2001

The College Teaching Fellowship is an award of $6,300 covering two semesters (fall and spring) that requires recipients to perform a teaching or research assignment. Recipients also receive up to 12 hours of matriculation and, if needed, 12 hours of out-of-state tuition waivers per semester. Recipients must be an incoming new graduate student at FSU, have at least a 3.2 overall (four year) undergraduate GPA or, if graduate, a 3.5 overall GPA, be highly supported by former and/or current teachers, and have a combined GRE (verbal and quantitative) score of 1150. 0

Application form, transcript(s) from each institution attended, GRE test scores, TOEFL score (for international students), and three letters of recommendation written by the persons indicated on the application (must be dated within the past year and written by faculty members with personal knowledge of the applicant's academic performance).

DISSERTATION FELLOWSHIP
Application Date: TBA

The Dissertation Fellowship is a 12-month award of $10,000 to permit full-time on campus work on the doctoral dissertation during the final year of study. Recipients must be full-time (12 hours) degree-sleeking students during the tenure of the award, will not be required to perform duties, and are precluded from accepting any other award or employment. The award also provides tuition waivers.

Required Documents:
Application form, transcript(s), an up-to-date vita, three letters of recommendation reflecting academic ability, projected date of completion, and financial need from the major professor, the department chair, and from one other person; and an approximately 1,000 word statement (in terms accessible to the non-specialist) of the nature of the research being undertaken, progress to date, and a projection of the final outcome.
