Design

Planning, and selecting instructional strategies and performance support tools based on performance objectives whereby all elements related to performance and earning are systematically brought together.

  1. Prepares clear statements of objectives in performance terms with conditions and acceptable performance level stated.
  2. Distinguishes between objectives stated in performance/behavioral terms from goals, learner activities, teacher activities and objectives written in other styles.
  3. Applies rules and principles of learning to the design of instructional materials and programs for a specified body of learners.
  4. Describes how learners acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes.
  5. Describes the principles of individual differences in learning and the use of them in the teaching/learning process.
  6. Works with the design team to insure appropriate discussions regarding the teaching/learning environment.
  7. Specifies instructional strategies in terms of their financial, psychological, and/or strategic advantages and disadvantages.
  8. Describes various instructional strategies (approaches, techniques, methods) used in education and training.
  9. Selects instructional activities and media for a specific audience and for given instructional objectives with a rationale for the selection.
  10. Designs, develops and evaluates a unit of instruction (minicourse, lesson, learning activity package, computer program, distance learning module) using a systematic approach.
