Welcome
Welcome from the chairman
If you are a prospective student, either undergraduate or graduate, I hope you will spend extra time on this site getting to know our department. Faculty members here are very proud of the department we have created together. As practicing research historians we publish well and take pride in passing our research skills and knowledge to our students. Because we emphasize the importance of good teaching, members of the department have received an impressive collection of teaching awards. We have a strong, first-rate department that operates in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
In addition we have a collection of notable strengths and specialties, particularly the Atlantic World, Latin America, Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century France, the US South, African American, US Intellectual and Cultural History, and Modern Europe. Read more . . .
