Chaired by Professor Marie Cowart, recent past-president of the FSU Faculty Senate, the Commission was charged with developing a consensus vision for the future of the University and held public meetings to gain input from the University's multiple constituencies throughout the Spring Academic term. The meetings were held on each Tuesday, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the Werkmeister Room in Dodd Hall on the main campus.

Another group, The External Commission on the Future, which was chaired by Tom Petway of Jacksonville, was formed to concentrate on identifying the views and opinions of alumni, friends of the University, and political leaders. The Commission has released its findings which are available on this website.

"Florida State can accomplish almost anything if we have a unified vision and work together. The planning process we are beginning will give us the common purpose we need to begin a new era of progress."

-University President Talbot D'Alemberte
