Dr. Lora Cohen-Vogel

Assistant Professor

Short Biography
Lora Cohen-Vogel, an assistant professor of education policy, joined the faculty of Florida State University in 2002. She holds a Ph.D. in Leadership and Policy Studies from Vanderbilt University (2002).

Professor Cohen-Vogel’s teaching and research focus on the political antecedents of education policy, and the governance structures that facilitate or impede policy adoption, implementation and effectiveness. She has recently completed an AERA-funded study comparing current arguments for alternative teacher certification with data from the Schools and Staffing Survey. Currently, she is also leading a project funded by the Spencer Foundation into the ways teachers are assigned to schools and classrooms. Her articles have been published in the American Journal of Educational Research, the American Journal of Education, Educational Administration Quarterly, Educational Policy, and the Journal of Educational Finance, among others.

Professor Cohen-Vogel serves on the advisory board for the Peabody Journal of Education and is a former co-editor of the Politics of Education Yearbook.
