DEVELOPMENTAL RESEARCH SCHOOL
FACULTY PERSONAL LEAVE DAYS

Developmental Research School faculty members may be granted five (5) personal days per year (non-cumulative) for emergencies or other personal reasons. One (1) personal leave day shall be paid leave and four (4) days shall be taken from accrued sick leave.

Personal leave days shall not be taken in increments of less than eight hours, and shall not be taken on the day immediately preceding or following a holiday. Except in the case of emergency, faculty members shall request personal leave days at least two days in advance. Faculty members shall not be required to give reasons for personal leave, except that the leave is for personal reasons. Faculty members must use a personal leave day for observance of a religious holy day.

The personal leave day which is not taken from accrued sick leave must be recorded by faculty members as “PLA” on the top of the Pay and Leave Report. Personal leave days taken from accrued sick leave must be recorded as “PLS” on the top of the Pay and Leave Report. Personal leave days must be requested by faculty members as Personal Leave and approved by their supervisors in the “Event Approval/Explanation” section at the bottom of the Pay and Leave Report. Supervisors must ensure that no more than five (5) personal leave days per year are used by faculty members.

Sick leave (not taken as a personal leave day) should be recorded by the faculty member on the top of the Pay and Leave Report as “PLS” and should not be requested nor approved by the supervisor in the “Event Approval/Explanation” section at the bottom of the Pay and Leave Report.

The Pay and Leave Report must be submitted, signed by the faculty member, at the end of each pay period. The Pay and Leave Report will be reviewed by the supervisor, but the supervisor's signature is not required.
