Undergraduate Program
Students in our undergraduate program are broadly educated in the history of art and introduced to a wide variety of cultures from around the world and throughout history. We provide a rigorous training in visual analysis and encourage our students to hone their skills in critical thinking and writing. Upon completion of the BA in art history, our majors are fully prepared for graduate school or a career in the arts.
We offer a Bachelor of Arts and two Art History minors:
Our courses cover five major fields of study:
International Studies
Students in Art History at Florida State also have a variety of opportunities for international studies and internships. More information is available at the FSU International Programs site.
Honors in the Major
The Art History Department offers honors in the major to students who wish to pursue an extended independent research project. The honors program is designed to encourage ambitious students capable of advanced, independent initiative to undertake original research at the beginning of their senior year, and to give them an idea of the work required in graduate school. Honors work also gives students the opportunity to work more closely with individual faculty members. Interested students should read over the requirements for Honors in Art History carefully before contacting the Departmental Honors Liaison, Dr. Adam Jolles.
